Mascot 18-inch Push Reel Mower

by ADMIN on February 3, 2010

The Mascot 6 blade mower is a heavy mower – it weighs almost 40 lbs and requires strong arms and stamina to use. This mower is very durable, and is made by Amish workers in the United States.

The Mascot 18 Inch Mower works very well on all types of grass, including St. Augustine, Zoysia, and Bermuda Grass (these grasses are commonly found in the Southern US). The heavy duty cutting blades and chop bar do not jam up very easily, and the high inertia of the mower comes in handy.

The Mascot Silent Cut 18 is also available in an “Upright grasses model” that has higher ground clearance.

Technical details:

  • Cutting Width: 18 inches
  • Weight: 39 lbs
  • Wheel diameter: 9 inches (10 inches on the Upright Grass model)
  • Wheel width: 1.75 inches
  • Minimum cutting height: 0.5 inch
  • Maximum cutting height: 2.25 inches (2.75? with the UG model)
  • Handle: T shaped, with cushioned grip
  • Manufactured in: China and the US
  • MSRP: $289.99

What’s the best Reel Mower for cutting Bahai Argentine grass?

@Roosevelt Owens, The Fiskars Momentum reel mower, or Mascot reel mower will work well for cutting Bahia Argentine grass.

WOuld this mower work on buffalo grass? If not, what mowers would be good?

@Laura, Buffalo grass is a light grass that easily falls (does not stand like other grasses) so if you mow it regularly it will likely work but if it gets over grown and begins to fall or lay down the mower will not be able to cut it. Also, the mascot is a large heavy mower so I would suggest something lighter like the Scotts Classic.
